CIA International Technology Mission 2026
In October 2026, CIA undertakes an international mission to Portugal, China and Thailand to study AI, robotics and manufacturing ecosystems.
In October 2026, CIA is undertaking the CIA International Technology Mission, an international mission with stops in Portugal, China and Thailand. The idea is simple: to see first-hand how other ecosystems are applying technology to the physical world — and to bring that learning back to our operation in João Pessoa.
Why an international mission
CIA was born in Northeast Brazil, and it is here that we develop our platforms, carry out field integration and run our Operations Center. At the same time, the technologies we use — artificial intelligence, computer vision, robotics, sensors — evolve at a global pace. Following that evolution only from a distance has its limits.
An in-person mission makes it possible to see solutions in operation, understand the contexts in which they were created and talk directly with the people who build and run these technologies.
What we want to learn about
The mission’s agenda is organized around a few themes:
- Artificial intelligence ecosystems — how companies, research centers and innovation hubs organize themselves to develop and apply AI.
- Computer vision — applications in security, operations and the management of physical spaces.
- Robotics — mobile platforms, automation and the path from prototype to real-world use.
- Smart construction and smart residential buildings — how technology is being built into construction and property management.
- Manufacturing — production chains for equipment and components, a topic relevant to the evolution of our robotics work.
Bangkok: cooperation talks
In Bangkok, the mission includes cooperation talks with the local innovation ecosystem. These are exploratory talks, with no agreement signed: the aim is to learn about initiatives, exchange experiences and identify possibilities for collaboration. Any outcomes will be announced at the appropriate time.
A method for observing
Visiting technology ecosystems can easily turn into a series of loose impressions. To avoid that, we intend to take a few practical questions with us, drawn from the challenges we face in our operation — questions to investigate, not conclusions:
- What works in the field, not just in a demo?
- How do solutions deal with privacy, information security and regulation in their own contexts?
- What is transferable to the Brazilian reality — of residential buildings, construction sites and companies — and what depends on conditions very different from ours?
- What kind of partnership makes sense for a company of our size and focus?
Our intention is to record what we find carefully, so the trip translates into product and operational decisions.
From learning to roadmap
A mission only makes sense if what is seen feeds back into day-to-day work. What we learn on the trip will feed into the roadmap of the CIA platform and of the Robotics Lab — helping us prioritize features, assess technologies and refine the design of our solutions for residential buildings, construction sites and companies.

From Northeast Brazil to the world — and back
Taking CIA to other ecosystems is also a way of showing that technology applied to the physical world can be developed in Northeast Brazil. And bringing back what we learn abroad is how we make that technology evolve here.
